Baake Field Services
Grounded In Milwaukee
Precision To Our Core
Based in Milwaukee, BFS provides environmental and geological field services of the highest quality. BFS specializes in groundwater and soil sampling, as well as the installation of sub-slab soil gas/vapor sampling points (namely Vapor Pin®). BFS also conducts environmental sampling via hydraulic soil probing / direct push drilling with Geoprobe® equipment. Baake Field Services also specializes in completing soil probing and sampling in areas that are severely confined or have limited access by utilizing manual Geoprobe® tooling.
BFS offers a host of other environmental and geological field services, with a particular emphasis on the operation and maintenance of groundwater remediation systems; and property management of abandoned brownfield and hazardous waste sites. BFS can also help landowners with the installation of sand point wells.
BFS' service area is centered in the Milwaukee metropolitan area and southeastern Wisconsin, but includes the entire state.

BFS utilizes a powerful and compact Geoprobe® 66DT. BFS advances 60” (5') macro-core (2.25" MC5) tooling; and also has dual tube (DT22) capabilities. Key specifications include 30,000-34,000 pounds (15-17 tons) of downward force and 40,000-46,000 pounds (20-23 tons) of retraction force with a footprint of 47” W x 74” H x 92” L when folded and 47” W x 156” H x 121” L when unfolded. The rig weighs approximately 4,800 pounds, excluding tooling, fluids, and accessories; and is mounted on rubber tracks. Concrete penetration can be performed with the Geoprobe® concrete breaker system. Maximum depth is limited more by geology and soil conditions than rig capabilities, however probing depths in excess of 100' have been documented in the upper Midwest, most notably in Minnesota and Michigan. That said, BFS generally limits probing projects to those with boreholes of 25' maximum depth.
Please note that BFS does not offer hollow stem auger (HSA) drilling for groundwater monitoring wells.
